We left Oban a couple of days ago for the Ilse of Skye. Not to thrilled with our Guest House, but loved the island. Spend all day Yesterday touring the island. We started the day off by climbing the mountain to the Man of Storr where were suppose to get some great views of the island and surrounding island. The sign at the bottom said 2975, and I think it was the elevation. We climbed up for about 40 minutes and met another couple coming down. They told us we still had a way to go, and the top was covered in mist. We continued up until we came to a fantastic opening above the tree line. Spent some time there and because we could see that the clouds were just above us we started back down. Very slippery! On the way down we met hoards of other climbers on the way up. We sure picked the right time to go as it was surreal in parts with only us on the trail. We carried on around the top of the island stopping at the Kilt rock, and Life of Skye museum and down to Dunvagan. The road around the top island was a single lane road with pull outs where you stop and wait for traffic to pass you. It was an experience. I watched the road, and Linda watched for oncoming traffic to tell me to look for a passing sport. Went to the pub last night and met a nice Scottish couple who were from Edinburgh. They filled us in on some things to see and things to avoid in Edinburgh and Dublin.
Today we are off to see Loch Ness. We have stopped at a roadside resturant for lunch and they have a computer.
Roy has told you abut our time up to now. We have seen some amazing scenery. Today is rainy so we were lucky to do our sightseeing n Skye yesterday. The view on the mountain wasn't great but the scenery was eerie. We were all alone, the wind was blowing and it was just rock. It almost felt as though we had gone to another world.
I wasn't happy with the guest house but Roy wasn't either. NO TOP SHEET, no bath mat, no hand towel and almost no pillow. We did have a good mattress.
Even though it is raining it's a fabulous place.
We saw a castle this morning - built out in the water. MacRae clan.
Love to everyone
